"The Elisha Witt Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met for their regularly scheduled meeting on March 17, at the Cedar Village Restaurant. Cindy Hensley and Fredia Blackwell were the hostesses.

Cassidy McKye Flynn, daughter of Gina and Greg Flynn, winner of the Elisha Witt Chapter of the DAR Good Citizens Award, was awarded a fifty-dollar savings bond. Cassidy will be awarded a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate and wallet recognition card at the high school Honors Night. Cassidy also entered the DAR Good Citizens Scholarship contest where each entry is evaluated by independent, non-DAR judges. The winning entry is advanced through state and national levels of judging.

Cassidy read her essay “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It” to members. After the meeting, refreshments were served to Regent Janice Bush, Fredia Blackwell, Faye Reece, Susan Hawkins, Phyllis Dunaway, Eva Watson, Cassidy, Gina, Greg and Kennedy Flynn, Don and Joy Brown and Caleb Click.
