"The Estill County High School Concert Band attended the Kentucky Music Educators Association group assessment event Friday, March 23 at the new arts center at Eastern Kentucky University.
They were given a distinguished rating, the highest rating possible. The group worked throughout the semester preparing music to present to a panel of distinguished adjudicators. The distinguished rating qualifies the group to participate in the state assessment event in April.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for this group and for our program. All to often the attention is on the competitive marching band or groups seen in public like jazz band or pep band. Concert band is a vital part of our program because this is the music classroom where the teaching and learning really takes place,” Director Jason Bowles said. “Congratulations to this group as they continue to represent Estill County among the elite in the state.”"
