Frog Went A-Courting

From Estill County History

In 1916, Loraine Wyman published a collection of songs collected in the mountains. The entry for "Frog Went A-Courting" was marked as being collected from Estill County. According to the preface of the book, great care was taken to capture the lyrics and melodies as closely as possible to the way they were presented by the people who performed them in the hills of Estill County. The book is called "Lonesome tunes: Folk songs from the Kentucky mountains/ the words collected and edited by Loraine Wyman; the pianoforte acc. by Howard Brockway; Vol. 1." As of July 9, 2021, it can be viewed online in the University of Kentucky digital archives at: https://exploreuk.uky.edu/catalog/xt7g4f1mh64s
