Henry B. Wiseman

"HENRY B. WISEMAN, a farmer and stock-grower of Estill County, Ky., was born in said county, September 15, 1821. His father, Abner Wiseman, a native of Virginia, removed to Kentucky in the latter part of the eighteenth century and settled in what is now Estill County; he was a farmer by occupation, but a mill-wright by trade. He married Miss Isabell Blanton, of Virginia, and became the father of fourteen children. Of these Thomas B., William, Abner, Isaac, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jane, Diana, Isabell are still living; the rest having died young. Mr. Wiseman died in 1823 and his wife in 1854. Henry B. Wiseman was reared on the farm and received a common school education. He has followed agricultural pursuits all his life. In 1859 he was elected sheriff of Estill County, serving one term; again elected to the same office in 1868, and re-elected in 1870. In 1885 he represented Estill and Lee Counties in the Legislature one term. He owns a fine farm of 275 acres where he now resides in Estill County, beside another tract in the same county of about 300 acres, and 100 acres of blue grass land in Clark County, Ky. June 29, 1858, Mr. Wiseman married Miss Mary Mcintosh, a daughter of Peter Mcintosh, of Estill County. Eleven children have been born to this union, six daughters and five sons, viz: Abner L, Isabell M., Mary Ann D., Henry J. W., Joseph L., Malinda F., Laura E., Serilda, James B., John D. and Catherine M. Mrs. Wiseman is a member of the Baptist Church and Mr. Wiseman is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
