John D. Winn
"JOHN D. WINN, circuit court clerk of Estill County, Ky., was born in Jackson County, Mo., November 4, 1849. His father, David C. Winn, was born in Clark County, Ky., in 1821, was by occupation a farmer, and in 1822 removed to Missouri, where he lived and died. He was a son of Miner Winn, a Virginian, who settled in Clark County at an early date and lived there until about 1861, when he moved to Texas, and lived there until his death. David C. Winn was married about 1840 to Miss Mary J. Adams, a daughter of John Adams, of Clark County. To this union were born only two children, Bettie and John D. John D. Winn is now the only surviving member of the family. He was brought up on the home farm in Missouri, and in 1859 moved to Kentucky and settled in Estill County, where he has ever since lived and followed fanning. In 1886 he was elected on the Democratic ticket circuit court clerk of Estill County, and is the present incumbent of the office. He has a fine- farm near Irvine, and is in very comfortable circumstances. December 23, 1871, he was married to Miss Annie Fluty, a daughter of Robert Fluty, of Estill County. To this union have been born four children, viz: James, David, Charley and Robert. Mr. Winn is a member of the Masonic fraternity." - Kentucky: A History Of The State, by William Henry Perrin, J. H.
