"Blackburn, Robert E. Lee (1870-1935) — also known as Robert Blackburn — of Stanton, Powell County, Ky.; Lexington, Fayette County, Ky. Born near Furnace, Estill County, Ky., April 9, 1870. Republican. Served in the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War; merchant; insurance business; stockbroker; member of Kentucky state house of representatives, 1904-05; Powell County Clerk, 1906-10; U.S. Representative from Kentucky 7th District, 1929-31; defeated, 1930 (7th District), 1932 (at-large). Disciples of Christ. Member, Junior Order; United Spanish War Veterans; Freemasons. Died in Lexington, Fayette County, Ky., September 20, 1935 (age 65 years, 164 days).
